District Attorney Hoovler Receives 2025 LeadershipAward from Orange County Shields

City of Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden also Recognized by Fraternal Police Organization

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler received the 2025 Leadership Award from the Orange County Shields, a fraternal organization of law enforcement officers in Orange County.  Also recognized at the Shields’s annual barbeque was City of Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.  Orange County Shields President Anthony LaPeruta, a Lieutenant with the City University of New York Department of Public Safety who has over twenty-five (25) years of law enforcement experience, said while introducing DA Hoovler that “Orange County is a safe place…and a lot of that has to do with our DA…a strong supporter of law enforcement and a former police office himself…he is one of the toughest DA’s we have.”

“I am very grateful for the award I received from the Orange County Shields, which I see as a testament to my dedication to law enforcement and the partnerships I have developed with the police, first as an officer myself, then as a line prosecutor, and since 2014 as the chief law enforcement officer of Orange County,” said District Attorney Hoovler. “These partnerships are not only useful but are necessary as we work together to make Orange County a safe and prosperous home for us all.  I appreciate the selfless service of our men and women in blue and I am humbled to be honored by this fine organization.”
