District Attorney Hoovler Announces Guilty Plea in Sexual Assault of Two Children
Kevin Cholula Faces up to 20 Years in Prison
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Kevin Cholula, age 31, of New Windsor, pled guilty in Orange County Court to two counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree. At sentencing on June 12, 2025, the People will recommend that he be sentenced to twenty (20) years in prison, to be followed by ten (10) years of post-release supervision. As part of the sentence, Cholula will also be registered as a sex offender under the New York Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA). At the plea proceedings, Cholula admitted thatbetween July, 2020 and October, 2023 he engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct, which included at least one act of sexual intercourse, oral sexual conduct, anal sexual conduct or aggravated sexual contact with two children less than eleven years old.
District Attorney Hoovler thanked the Town of New Windsor Police Department for their investigation which led to the arrest of the defendant.
“The unspeakable actions of this defendant deserve the harshest punishment,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “Investigations into allegations of sexual crimes against children are particularly challenging and I commend the dedicated work of the police officers and prosecutors who ensured justice was served in this case. My Office, together with our law enforcement partners will never cease in our pursuit of sexual predators. We continue to provide support for victims of sexual assault and will hold offenders accountable for their actions.”
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Julie Mohl.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation by the police that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
