District Attorney Hoovler: Repeat Port Jervis Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty
Enido Rumaldo Pled Guilty to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree
Defendant Expected to be Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Thursday, February 26, 2025, Enido Rumaldo, 21, of Port Jervis, pled guilty in Orange County Court to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree. Under the plea agreement announced on the record at the time that Rumaldopled guilty, it is expected that he will be sentenced to six (6) years in prison to be followed by five (5) years of post-release supervision when he is sentenced on March 26, 2025.
The charges against Rumaldo stemmed from a long-term investigation into the possession and sale of narcotics in and around the City of Port Jervis. As alleged in documents filed and statements made in court, Rumaldo sold quantities of narcotics to undercover police officers in the City of Port Jervisfour (4) times in the fall of 2024. On October 16, 2024, Rumaldo sold 63 grams of cocaine to an undercover officer in the City of Port Jervis. After selling the drugs, Rumaldo was arrested and a judicially authorized search warrant was executed on his automobile. Inside, police recovered additional narcotics, as well as scales, and plastic baggies used to package narcotics. At the plea proceedings, Rumaldo admitted to knowingly and unlawfully selling one half ounce or more of cocaine.
District Attorney Hoovler thanked the City of Port Jervis Police Department for their investigation which led to the arrest of Rumaldo. District Attorney Hoovler also thanked the Orange County Drug Task Force and the City of Middletown Police Department for their assistance during the investigation. Also assisting in the investigation were the Town of Wallkill Police Department, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hudson Valley Crime Analyst Center.
“Law enforcement will continue to work diligently and collaboratively to stop the flow of dangerous narcotics into our community,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “We must all be grateful for the brave and dangerous work done by investigators to root out these insidious crimes. My Office will continue to dedicate resources to these important investigations. We will not stand for those who seek to profit off the backs of our most vulnerable.”
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Alexis Gregory.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
